I致e been wondering about the money system in the game of Earthbound! Is this
one screwed up currency or what? You must remember, that steadily, the world痴
currency has been gradually becoming worth less and less. Remember back in the
good ol days where you could go to the movies for $ .50? Or when you could get a
sandwich for $ .20?
Now I think most of you know which issue I知 gonna pick at next. With this in mind,
the decreasing value of money, Earthbound must have been set in the year 3000!
I致e never seen such ludicrous prices in my life! Come on now, a hamburger for
$14? Heck, you can get a whopper for $ .99! And the fruit juice, $4? Gimme a
break, walk on over to a Minute Maid machine and get a juice for $ .50. Wouldn稚
most of you people guess a cheap bracelet would be $10-$20? Surely not $98.
Heh, a $7 cookie! A $2 ketchup packet! Who痴 gonna buy a BROKEN spray can for
$189? And let me comment that a peanut cheese bar sounds disgusting! Anyway, a
$70 dollar beef jerky! What痴 a deluxe water, bottled water that is enriched?
Whatever it is, it better be pretty good for $198! And don稚 even get me started on
Summers! Good Heavens, the Summers Restaurant sells an iced tea for $78!
What痴 up with this boy痴 dad? Is this a rich man or what? You know, at the end of
the game, Ness owns about $150,000. That痴 quite a bit of money! That痴 also a
very generous father. I wish I had a dad like that!
In conclusion, Earthbound痴 money is wak! I don稚 know if its high prices, or a
simulated futuristic currency! Out of every single item for sale in Eagleland, I致e
found three deals:
1. A baseball cap for $19
2. Although a single fresh egg costs $12, later on, being able to sell the chicken for
$100 makes it quite a investment for bargain-hunters!
3. The house in Onett that sells for around $17,000 (even though its missing a
wall!)
