Everyone knows who reidman is. Some even know reid personally. Although his
posts are rare, they tend to get alot of attention. This attention is very
mixed. Some replies are to extent of "OMG reidman! Wow, you're so cool!" or the
opposite, like "reid you jerk, where are you?"
Let's face it, reid's just a cool guy. Some people think lower of other because
they think that the others are just sicking up to the webmaster. It's quite
possible that some of them are. But I, personally, just think reid's a cool
person. He's a good worker, although people may or may not pay attention to
this fact. He's funny, although this trait is subject to opinion. Reidman is
also very fair, intelligent, and he retains morals on his site.
One of the biggest cases where people accuse other members of "brown-nosing" is
in regards to Five Iron Frenzy. I'll be honest, I didn't really like them at
first. I had heard the "The Are Not My Pants Collection", so I really just
started off on the wrong foot. I finally took pther people's advice and
listened to some other songs and-- uh oh! News Breakthrough: THEY'RE A COOL
BAND!!! They simply sound great. So I APPRECIATE reidman recommending the band
to everyone, but I really started liking the band on my own. And so have, I
bet, many others.
Reid doesn't have a thankless job. He's earned the respect of even his toughest
critics (except for those silly "equal rights activists") with the amount of
work he gets done, while still pulling off leading a real life. It's an
interesting thought, thinking of all those people he must see everyday who
never once realize how widely respected this guy they're looking at is. And I'm
pretty sure that Reid makes no attempt to inform them (outside of a
possible "Hey, have ever heard of a game called EarthBound?"). I've seen the
website of the company he's currently working for. Lucky guy, being able to do
something creative for a living. He's worked to get to this position, though,
so...
The likeliness of me and reidman ever meeting? Eh, not so good. Although he'd
be an awesome guy to get to know, I would probably only bother the poor guy.
I'm just another supporter. Go reid!
Site-related fact of the week (10/18/03): Ah, Jonk's leaving to find himself.
He's not sure about how permanent his leave will be, but he plans to figure it
all out by the end of the month. He made an... interesting post, you might say,
on the front page after he made his decision to take a break. I understand,
though. He's been working hard for the site for a long time. He sets a standard
for other staffers. Whatever he decides to do with himself after this month,
he's got my support.
