Windows Users:

Download mIRC from http://www.mirc.com, then install it. You will then be asked to fill out a couple of blanks for your nickname, e-mail address, etc.

Add dynastynet to your list of servers. Just click on the 'add' button and type in 'dynastynet' for the Description, 'irc.dynastynet.net' for the IRC server.

Macintosh Users:

Go to http://www.ircle.com and download the appropriate version. Make sure to connect to irc.dynastynet.net.

How to get into #earthbound:

So, you want to go to #earthbound, huh? Well, there are a few things you need to do first...

First of all, #earthbound may seem a bit hard to get into, but most people have these requirements anyway. Basically, know this: People that are complete strangers to starmen.net usually don't get in. Here are what you SHOULD have, before asking:

1) A good, strong foothold in the sm.net community -- In other words, you should post on the forum a bit and get people to know who you are. Maybe submit a few things or two. The idea is at least some people should know who you are so you don't seem to be a total stranger when you ask.

2) A registered nickname on dynastynet. Countless people have asked to be let in without a registered nickname. To register your nickname, do the following:

  • Load mIRC (or whatever you use) and type:
    /server irc.dynastynet.net
  • After you're connected, type:
    /msg nickserv register password email@address
Where password is your password you want and email@address is your email address.
  • Press Alt+R.
  • Copy and paste this into the box that pops up:
    ctcp *:identify:{ /ns id yourpass }
  • Change yourpass in the above thing to whatever you registered your nickname with for your password. (this will make it so when you connect you identify.)

That should be enough in the nickname registering department.

3) Email chat@starmen.net with your nickname on IRC and your forum name.

4) If you're going to email me, email me preferrably using your ISP email address. if you don't have an email with your ISP, include your ISP name in your email.

That should be it! If you follow those steps it should be fine and *hopefully* there shouldn't be that much trouble. Have fun in #earthbound!
