Great news! Thanks to IGN64, Morgul, and Grunt (the MAN), we've got a
newer, MUCH cooler version of the Mother 3 video! Couldn't stand the
low quality and framerate of the old one? Look no further! This new
version has both a higher framerate, a little better quality, and
SOUND! Yeeeeeah!
Check it out in our Mother 3 Videos section!
Thanks to IGN64 for releasing this, to Morgul for notifying me, and to
Grunt for doing the grunt work (heheh) by downloading/uploading it to
our servers, because my 26.4 connection would have me waiting up till
midnight.
By the way, you might wanna download it from here instead of getting it
from IGN64. Their servers are bogged down severely. Hope this helps you
guys out who are just drooling to see this new version :)

Hello kids! IGN64 has supplied more info about Mother 3. Unfortunatly,
not even they know much about the storyline (which most of us are dying
to know). But according to them, Mother 3 takes off 10 years AFTER the
original Mother. So, it isn't a prequel to the entire series, but it
could be a prequel to Mother 2. No one really knows for sure. But it's
all still a good reading. Check it out!

RPGamer gives a little review of Mother 3 from Space World. Most of it
is old info.
"The story begins with Flint attempting to figure out what's going on
when a UFO lands nearby."

Thanks to D. Fentie.

Huh?

Hey, is this a typo or what? From the Nintendojo preview:
"Mother 3 is the first game in this RPG series; "Mother" was released
for the Famicom and "Mother 2" was for the SNES."
So I guess this confirms that Mother 3 is the prequel to Mother. It
explains why the screenshots don't look like they're from the present.

This is the big update from Nintendojo, the one we've been waiting for!
Anyone who has been following Space World as closely as we have knows
that Nintendojo has been THE site to go to for information, and we knew
it would only be a matter of time before they finally did the...
Mother 3 Preview!
Here's the information thats new to us:
"...By using 'energy' you can cast strong magic, however using this too
much will cause a character to overheat and not able to battle..."
"...The game's characters are: A blone-haired kid named Ryuka, a cowbuy
guy named Flint, a dog named Boney, and someone named Klaus... "
Well, we now know for sure that Flint (if that IS Flint), Boney,
Ryukka, and his twin are the main characters of the game. Obviously,
the Pig Army (Pork Bean Soldiers) are the antagonists throughout the
game.
Nintendojo also provided a new batch of screenshots, which I've posted
in the Mother 3 screenshot section. Go check 'em out!

Hey everyone, some pretty cool news here. A few of us might be familiar
with 'EXCELSIOR!', the owner of Doseisan-Online 2000, which is a very
cool Japanese page. Well, guess who went to Space World and played the
Mother 3 demo? You got it, EXCELSIOR! (heehee...fitting name)
Anyways, he played Mother 3 for a total of 20 minutes (you're only
allotted 10 minute slots) and informed us that these are the true
battle commands:
- Fight
- Speak
- Magic (MAGIC, not PSI or PK or whatever)
- Call (Probably like when enemies call for help, but this time, you get to.
- Might be like the Call/Summon commands in the FF series. Ryukka only.)
- Stand (Not as in 'I am standing', but as a synonym for 'bear' or 'endure'.
Obviously the Defend command.)
- Check
- Goods
- Strength (Shows your stats?)>
Many many thanks to Tomato for translating EXCELSIOR!'s Japanese for
us, and EXCELSIOR! for providing the information. Hopefully, he'll be
providing us with more soon!
BTW: In the event that EXCELSIOR! reads this, I'm once again sorry I
used your stuff on my page way back when. Let this be a lesson to all
you webmasters: Don't use stuff without permission, especially Japanese
works. They expect you to be respectful of their work/property, as well
you should be.

Mother 3 in GIA
|

|
|
Hey, thanks to ANTEBwizDX@aol.com for telling me about this. Gaming
Intelligence Agency has posted Mother 3 impressions from Spaceworld.
They give some more detail on exactly what the demo being shown is
like.
"The Space World demo opens in a village. From here, the player can
take different paths out of the village and into the various segments
of the demo. Two of the areas were just non-playable cut scenes: one
showed two young kids -- one with blonde hair and one with red --
riding a mine cart through several tunnels, while the other showed a
dog racing through a storm to its owner, whom it guided to the two kids
and a man in black clothing. (Both of these scenes appear in the movie
posted earlier today.)
The other areas were all playable: in one, the red-head (apparently the
main character) teams up with the blonde kid to battle boars and birds.
A second area takes place in the sewers, where the player hops around
on mushrooms and battles snakes. Finally, a third playable area sees
the party in a desert, battling a giant pig cannon. The team hops in a
futuristic hover car and speeds about the landscape while the cannon
shoots cannonballs at them."

More Mother 3
|

|
|
Although this was up yesterday, I didn't have time to let everyone know
about it. Nintendo of America's Dan Owsen (of Ask Dan fame) has done a
very short review on Mother 3 at Space World, and what he has to say is
cool, if not inspiring... :|
"...Hallmarks of the previous Mother/Earthbound games are immediately
obvious in the video trailer: hip musicians, boy adventurers, strange
vehicles and psychedelic, RPG-style fight scenes... "
Thats pretty cool. The only bad thing? He seems skeptical as to the
possibility of a release in North America. Hopefully we'll find out
more in his wrap-up report.

WHOOOOOAAAAA!
|

|
|
What a day. This is what I looked like this morning when I rolled out
of bed and groggily turned on the puter. This Mother 3 movie is the
biggest thing to happen to the online EB scene since the advent of
EarthBound Zero (which I remember vivdly...mainly, the letter from Demi
filled with excited obscenities :). I watched that movie at least 5
times before I realized that I was getting drool in my keyboard. I was
SO tempted to just skip school today in order to keep up with the
constant updates at IGN and Nintendojo (especially Nintendojo!), but
there hasn't been any significant news on Mother 3 since that movie
came out earlier.
Peer Schneider commented that Mother 3 is "Looking good ". Thats a
direct quote. Come on Peer, we need INFORMATION!
Good thing we've got Tomato's awsuma Japanese skills to translate that
NOJ document for us. It appears that Pokey has officially made his
return, but we're thinking that he's left Ness and friends alone for
the most part and donned a freaky pig costume. Perhaps the first
chapter or two of the game occur in Ness's time/location?? Time will
tell. We might find out sooner than expected, if all goes well during
this day 2 of Space World.
Oh yeah. I updated the Mother 3 Screenshots section with the really
really tiny screenshot from NOJ's Space World Page. Nothing huge, but
its there to fill out our collection nonetheless :)
