Mailbag Saturday Night! |

|
|
Mailbag has once again been updated on one of my Saturday night Mailbag binges. Falcon24 is nowhere to be seen because of some wicked good Thanksgiving leftovers, but we've got plenty of discussion on the staff here at Starmen.net.
Also, feel free to chime in on this week's topic. All about the forums. Mailbag. The literary funk you in which you love to participate.

 Radio PSI? Why of course.
It's shadow here, just letting you know that radio is still a go for tonight. Sephy won't be able to do his stuff this time so I'll be filling in for him. So basically, 6PM-12AM EST... or something.
If you've got any requests, just hit me up on IRC in #djsmnet (irc.dynastynet.net.) Here's the URL, if you've forgotten: http://starmen.net:3000/radio.ogg.m3u. As always, you get can the rest of the radio info at /funstuff/radio/.
Hope you tune in!

Summers Vacation by Scorpion Blaze FOTW has been updated with a piece that is here to remind you that warmth exists somewhere in the cold season that is upon you or is approaching. This is also one of the pieces of art that will be in the upcoming Starmen.net Calender. Something is up with the Cafepress uploading where it is giving me some difficulty getting the files onto the store so that is why its been a while.
WITWIPM!? has been refreshed with a great new comic by Flint. Flint's comic is great and many are fans of its series, but wouldnt it be cool if you could own some of his art in one form or another? well, now you can!
MONKEY GUM!, a design by flint, a shirt aimed for the ladies and those who have ladies or their own! Pick yours up today qand especially for the holidays! MONKEY GUM!

An atypical update from me |

|
|
"Anth, this isn't Sunday. It's Tuesday! What are you doing on the main page?" A more senior staffer hasn't posted this yet, that's why.
Leeman reveals that the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography has released a list of Japan's top 30 Famicom games, since it's preparing an exhibit on everyone's favourite dully coloured Nintendo 8-bit console. It's interesting to see where Mother has placed, as well as what games it's beaten. Check the forum topic here.
And the original article Leeman found is here.

Polls Updated |

|
|
This week's poll is brand new. Here are the results from last week:
Overall, how would you rate staffer job performance?
4 - Very Good: 42.23%
5 - Excellent: 24.52%
3 - Okay: 19.35%
1 - Poor: 9.54%
2 - Fair: 4.36%
Total Votes: 367
That isn't too bad. Now this week's question seems kind of boring, but everyone is always asking and wondering about how old visitors to the site are. Well, now's the chance to unscientifically document it!
How old are you?
Then there's a bunch of ranges for the ages. It's not hard, so just go vote!

Help Wanted, Apply Within! |

|
|
Guess what, it's your friend and mine, Super Buddha, bringing you a new staff position! He brings an opening in the Links department. Mainly, these are the necessary skills to work here: - Able to do HTML BY HAND and with little training/help.
- Interested in whatever section they run.
- Somewhat good people skills.
- Able to take orders, and also able to work on their own without having to be told everything.
- The ability to create a leftbar picture for each EBSS.
- A good work ethic; you can't suddenly disappear or decide not to update anymore.
- Other special skills are also helpful.
- ...and you need to be a cool person who will listen to Tomato and reid, if they'll ever decide to say anything at all. :)
When submitting your application, remember that it needs to be well written, and 2 to 3 good-sized paragraphs AT LEAST! This is to weed out all those freaks who are like "hi i can do job mail me back and we discuss" and such.
Your application should consist of the following things:- Your application.
- You must choose a site to be EBSS, and state your reasons.
- You must create a leftbar pic for it. 124x45 pixels. PNG format only. I have a Photoshop 7 Template to download, or a Transparent PNG you can superimpose over your image.
- ZIP all of that up, because my email doesn't like images, and send it application central.

I have a new fangame for you: Eventide Assault! Eventide Assault is a 2D shooter made for Halloween Funfest '03. It takes place in Onett on the night of Halloween. Playing as Ness in his Shark costume, you will use various weapons, such as eggs, exploding jack-o-lanters, and PSI attacks. Also, you will drive a van and the Frankeystein Mark III. Fight alongside allies like Carpainter and Frank to stop Pokey's plans.
In other news, reid and I are talking about the new Links staffer (read: he IMed me when I was busy on a Physics project once) so expect to send applications in soon!

Shredded FIERCELY |

|
|
Hey folks, your friendly not-here-a-lot webmaster here. Wanted to point out a few things which may or may not have escaped your attention:- Luna and Skul did awesome work on the Halloween Funfest
- ShadowX is SUCH an awesome Merch guy
- Eggy has been consistently and reliably Poeming for quite some time
- Pappy is back with Articles so you should send her some
- Simonborb has been solidly movin and shakin with Fanfics (which you artists should start drawing some art for)
- Jonk has raised ridiculous amounts of money for the site through the Starmen.Net Swag store and continues to update Fanart in its wake
- Sephy and shadow kick it old school every Saturday with PSI Radio
- Anthadd runs the ridiculously difficult Trivia every Sunday
- EBounding, the staffer with the longest shelf-life to date, has been doing a great job with useful/relevant Polls (go vote)
- Xod has been working hard to get the new forum ready even though I'm lazy and can't get the graphics finished
- Colin and Picky are the ying and yang of the EarthBound section (bug them about the walkthrough)
- Themadcreator, shadow, and [especially] Tokage have been kicking some butt on the site restructuring
- Mikey and Falcon bring you the Mailbag on some kind of weird schedule which I'm not quire sure how to figure out...but when it comes, its freakin good.
- Carpy is floating in Newsletter land, working on the fourth edition for those of you with longer attention spans than the mailbag responders
- ROFEESH is still with us updating fangames! Sorry FEESH :3
By far, you, the regulars and visitors of Starmen.Net, have one of the most solid combination of staffers we've ever had in this site's colorful history. Show these folks you care with a cool submission to their section (or a fruit basket [no apples, they hurt Gio's dentures]).
In other news, there are rumors that two punks who should have been working on the coming Starmen.Net restructuring shirked their duties. On a completely unrelated note, the seedy underbelly of the fanart section has been uncovered:

Patience brings good things. On patience's to do list: New Starmen.Net, New Forum, Holiday Funfest. Any staffers interested/brave enough should email patience (or reidman) about that last one.
I'd like to finish off with an admonition to staff and regulars alike: stop for a second and be nice to people. Even if you're mad at them for something or you don't like them or you don't think they like you. Or even if they did something completely not cool, which seems to be happening from time to time around here. Say hello and introduce a newbie who asks completely obvious questions. Instead of making a sarcastic and angry reply to a post, try to be helpful, or at least just don't say anything at all. Most of all, have some fun which other people can join in on.
When it all comes down to it, I really like this website, and I think a lot of you do too. So act like it and try to make things better :)

THE FUNFEST JUDGING IS COMPLETE! |

|
|
Well, Luna and I have finally gotten time in our hectic schedules to judge the funfest winners! We're both really sorry that it's taken so long; it's just been a very hectic month for both of us (I'm sure if Luna were around she would definately say that exams suck.)
But we're not looking for excuses anymore, we bring you the final results of the funfest! So, without any further delay (there's been more than enough already), we proudly present...
THE 2003 HALLOWEEN FUNFEST WINNERS
All winners, CONGRATULATIONS! Please send an e-mail to funfest@starmen.net to discuss your prize!
Please enjoy, and look forward to the upcoming Holiday Funfest, coming soon!

Groove Inflation for the Nation |

|

Radio Rockin again tonight! That's right, kid. Radio PSI will most definitely be droppin like a fat deuce tonight (11/22/03), starting at 6PM EST with DJ Dax doing his groovalicious blend of sonic awesome, followed by DJ Seph G rollin' out the flavor at the 9PM spot, with possible afterhours Sonic Snacktime with DJ Dax. You'd better be there! Cause if not... you won't hear stuff! Yeah, that's it!
Requests and whatnot, boyeeeee! If you have a request or an idea for Radio PSI, you should pass it along today to sephy@starmen.net, lettin' us know exactly what's up! And don't forget to party it up in #RadioPSI. Think of #RadioPSI as the Radio PSI Nightclub. Don't worry, the bouncers are nice. Okay peace outside!
Be there or be a quadrilateral!
