The polls are updated. But I want to point out something that's somewhat important first. If you search for EarthBound in Google Starmen.net will end up being the sixth result when it really should be the first. A big reason for this is when people link to SM.net, they link to it as Starmen.net and not EarthBound. So if everyone who has a website links to Starmen.net as EarthBound, whenever there is a search for EarthBound in Google Starmen.net will be the first result if enough people do this. If you don't have a website and want to help, just make a Geocities/Tripod type site, and put in the link EarthBound on your page and "update" it regularly. You can also try putting the EarthBound link in your signature on any forums you post on. Google will hopefully get the hint and searches for EarthBound will first lead to SM.net. I'm sure more people think of EarthBound as a video game and not some new-age hippie herbal farm. So let's give it its rightful place. Days since last Trivia update: 7 Days until next Trivia update: 7 Trivia updates in between: 0 Number of submissions received this week: 2 Number of submissions that scored 5/5: 0 Average number of submissions, per week, received over the 2.5 or so years I've been running Trivia: 40-some In short, there isn't an update this week because I only got two submissions, neither of which were 100% correct. This is theoretically (and most likely) due to the holiday season, but it's still rather anaemic and disturbing; it is not due to me not announcing the update, because I did announce it. The same questions will be asked this week, and the two people who entered over the last week will be free to enter again this week. I'm hoping for an increase of at least 50% in turnout; three submissions is far, far better than two submissions. After taking my last final at 3:30, I packed my stuff up yesterday and hitchhiked home from Purdue. A bunch of cats with big legs ran by, dragging one of Saddam's body doubles in a red suit. To my surprise, they turned around and picked me up. I didn't know what was up with the inoculation loops and open glass plates, but hey, you don't ask questions sometimes. I set my computer and my bag down as far from the dishes as I could amongst a pile of half eaten strawberries and square marshmallows, and enjoyed the ride at 20 times the speed of light. Well, the Annual Gift Man gave me one of the pretty dishes before I left. The bacteria seems to have found my skin most unpleasing, so it (apparently) mutated into hard-drive-array-eating bacteria instead. I got my computer set up today and turned it on. Ah, the familiar sound of my RAID array spinning up, the 8^30 RPM cpu fan, the beeping. Very comforting. And then my ears picked up an unwelcome sound. The hard drives clicked for the second time. My stomach turned a knot. The computer booted up still. I paused, breath baited. A boot up screen. A sigh of relief. Typing my password. Nothing coming up on the screen. Fear. The hard drives click one more time. The sudden realization that my fate is sealed. I restart the computer with that awful feeling in your stomach when you know something terrible has just happened and you're on your way to survey the extent of the damages. Most of you can probably sympathize, having just taken final exams. I rebooted the computer and of course Windows is like 'Hey look I can be helpful! Lets do a scandisk together, everything will be fine, friend! Look, a butterfly!' Well, good old scandisk is on segment 77,500 as I type this. I think all of them have been bad since 56,000 or so. Ugh. Luckily i had the foresight to upload a fairly recent copy of the new Starmen.Net design to the server a few weeks ago, so my biggest (and, now, most important) project isn't lost. And luckily this happened AFTER all of my final projects. But still... Ugh. Sorry for the long update, but thats the deal. I'll be talking to themadcreator/Tokage/ROFISH/Xod about the progress on the site restructuring in the meantime. Enjoy your breaks and make something awesome for the Christmas Funfest; it'll help cheer me up :) |

Especially TAFKACC's, because he wrote it like, 2-3 months ago and there were so many complications. First I didn't get it, then I got it but my email went craaazy, and then I just didn't update.
