Sweet Mother of Pearl! |

|
|
Yes, that's right! Mailbag is updated! My trip to Hawaii is over, and I don't have another vacation for six months, guarunteed! Go now! And, it sure would be swell if I got lots of letter, which you can send here!
Oh, right. Next week's topic is:
Wow! The petition is flowing beautifully, with well over 10,000 signatures. We've beaten our previous petition record in less than a week; how far do you think we'll go? I've heard everything from 20,000 to 50,000 to 100,000 (*cough*), so what do you think?
On a side note, I'd also like to know what you hope Mother 3 will be like--will it star Ness and company, or the newer "Flint" character?

Happy Chocolate Day |

|
|
Hope everyone is enjoying a good Chocolate Day. Here's the last minute update for Apple of Enlightenment. Here's everything so far:
So, everything MUST be in before midnight tonight, and if you forgot,
This week's prediction is: What if Ness' parents switched jobs?
So I think that's everything. Good luck.

Another Wonderful Fanfic Update |

|
|
Hey all! When you're done signing the petition if you haven't already, there are fresh new Fanfics to read, including the new Zenith chapters!
Now, at this point in the update, I was gonna do this hilarious thing where I said "This is the part with Raltise" and the word "Raltise" would link to his page on SIPYF. Then I'd say "Falcon wanted me to mention it" and I'd link to his email. And I'd go on about Falcon and Raltise and link to Falcon's funny pictures and the IF board and stuff. But since liquid2k has decided to suck, I'm forced simply to tell you that Raltise is in this bit and you'll have to read it yourself to find out what kind of crazy stuff Falcon is up to. No matter what Falcon tells you, liquid2k.net is down, down, down.
Plus, voice your opinion on the beanbag basement megawar!

Eat it! EB64 Petition! |

|
|
Only a week has passed and already we have surpassed our last petitions final ammount of signatures of 10013. But we've still got a long way to go. At this rate theoretically we will finish the petition in a little over a months time, but I'm sure we're bound to hit bumps a long the way. As long as people keep spreadin' the word and popular sites support us. Our goal will be reached.
On the other hand I have sweet sweet auctions here.I may be doing a mini-broadcast tonight 8:00CST to make up for previous absences, so try tuning if you like. No gaurantees. I'll also try broadcasting tommorow at the regular time. See ya! and sign the petition if you haven't already.

Super Update! |

|
|
First off there's a fangame update! It's a cool game where you guide Mr. Saturn through 7 levels to rescue his fellow Mr. Saturns. Gain weapons and items to aid you in your final battle with Master Belch. A cool little platformer made by Flipside Games.
In the recent events of the petition, I need to reinstate the rules. Sites have to have some kind of Earthbound relation to it. You must also send your site's name and URL with EACH update.
Also, /Earthbound got the first of the new frequently updated icon. The rules for that are simple. You have to update 10 times each month. This means that in April, /Earthbound will have the frequently updated icon, but he doesn't update 10 times in April, he'll lose it. There's many to go around, so start updating, K? With that done here are today's updated sites:URL Additions:Have you updated your site recently? Would you like your site to be listed in updated sites? All you have to do is email updatedsites@starmen.net with your site's name and url.
Are you not in the links? Would like to get listed? Send an email to links@starmen.net containing your site's name and url, and you'll be all fixed up.

ROCKIN FOR THE KIDS |

We'd like to thank Matt Casamassina from cube.ign.com for helping us out by posting news of the petition on IGN, as well as other great sites like 8-bit Theater and Edge Emulation for being truly helpful in advancing the petition!
The support we've received from other websites thus far has been amazing, and has definitely far surpassed what we had for the last petition. Whats more is that we're just starting :D Keep your eyes here for more information in the near future, and thanks to the Starmen.Net staff for working hard to keep the signature count updated.

Who's Sephy? |

|
|
Even I ask myself this, after having not updated for over a month. I am pulling myself out of the "Staffers Who Update Every Decade" group (which includes Luna and Kyo, both of whom need to update), and bringing you a fresh bactch of Fan Art. (Note from Kyo: "I'm not as bad as Luna, you barf face!") Surprisingly, given the time between the last update and this, only two people got Name That Fan Art correct! Shame! A new, impressive Fan Art of the Week has been posted as well.
I received a lot of drawings/computer art that did not meet the quality standards for the Fan Art section. Although everything I received was themed correctly, much of it had spelling errors, was made with MS Paint, or was not thought out well enough, and had at maximum five minutes of preparation. No one's going to think you're cool if you get a stick figure Ness posted with the quote "HI IM NESS EATHRBUOND." I would, however, like to congratulate those who submitted good pieces for submitting them with nice, clean filenames. It makes my job a hundred times easier, thank you! Eventually we will be tightening the quality standards for Fan Art, but until then, do your best and don't get discouraged if you get turned down!
On another note, the winners of the Mother 3/Smash Brothers Art Contest will be announced very shortly, as soon and Jonk and I clean up the judging and legal mumbo jumbo. Just about all of the entries looked fabulous!
Now go get all your friends to sign the petition!

Belated SSB:M stuff |

|
|
Heh, I would have posted this earlier, but right after I finished uploading the SSB:M stuff, my computer froze. Right after that, of course, I started having problems with MSN, which suddenly decided to be the crappiest piece of crap in the universe.
Anyway, Fan Melee has been updated, Foppy won, it's the End of the Universe, yadda yadda yadda. I also got a couple of new images into the Images section.

We won |

|
|
Yep, me and my improv team are winners! But now back to the irregularily scheduled Apple of Enlightenment update. If you want to know who won Easter Eggs then you have to look up a bit for the poorly hidden link. If you just want to get to business,
This week's prediction is: What if Ness' parents switched jobs?
Have fun, keep it clean and next week, AoE should be back to it's regular update, so get everything in BEFORE Monday, okay?
PS, there has been a bit of confusion I guess with the AoE submission form. Use it whenever to submit for that week's AoE prediction. Only email me first if you have to email the entry, so I'll expect it, and not worry about a virus from someone I don't know, thanks.

Or something. We got a couple more banners up for people who want to put one up on their sites. We also have a little icon thingy that is good for AIM users to spread the word. Check it all out on the petition page.

Polls Updated |

|
|
A new poll for you all. But first, here are the results from last week. I personally thought the margin would be smaller than it was, but the voting turn out was higher than normal too. And that's always good. Here are the results:
What EarthBoundy type thing would you most like to see if there's another Smash Bros. game?
More EarthBound characters: 61.00%
Ness not sucking: 16.43%
More music from EB: 11.42%
More EarthBound levels: 6.69%
EarthBoundy items: 4.46%
Total Votes: 359
Now in light of the Mother 3 petition, the next polls question is about flyers. So check it out and vote!

Yay banners |

Posted some banners on the Mother 3 Petition page. If you've got a website and you want to help us out, feel free to pop one of those up there. Hopefully tomorrow I'll make some cool IM buddy icons or forum avatar things or something.

And now that I think about it, if you haven't already: sign the petition.

And my scene is... |

|
|
Well, some good news and some bad news. Apple of Enlightenment has been updated, because the big update will be delayed by one day. I have a major improv competition (Waterloo regionals of the Canadian Improv Games, my night is tomorrow at the King Street Theatre Centre in downtown Kitchener, only $5 for a ticket *wink, wink*) tomorrow, so the new topic will be moved to Tuesday. That means everyone gets a whole extra day to work on submissions and send them in. Here's the latest batch:
If you forgot,
This week's prediction is: What if a giant Easter Egg hunt was held in Eagleland?
So, everything must be in before TUESDAY, wish me and my team luck, and have fun. Oh, and sign the petition if you haven't done so already.

Despite all the anxiety about the petition, I've got some new manga/dojinshi posted.- Cross dojinshi
- Percy dojinshi and
- Hearty Time dojinshi
More info on these soon to come. But I thought I'de just get them up with a pic. (beware Ness in short shorts)

Yes, another update not totally related to the Petition! But the petition rules, so you should sign it. Flukes have been updated, with only 1 entry picked out of tons! I was happy to see many more flukes named correctly, however.
Oh, and a side note, happy belated birthday to both CherryBomb and I!

Have YOU signed yet? |

Well, have you? If not, go and sign now! We're all counting on you. Anyway, I do actually have reason to be updating. Eggy has been laboring hard to bring you an improved EB0 sprite archive, with tons of sprites I had forgotten even existed. That's dedication, folks! Y'all probably won't see me around as often for a while, just in my updates. My grandmother got out of the hospital a week ago after triple-bypass surgery, and my mom and I are staying with her until she gets completely back on her feet, and she doesn't have Internet access. But, thanks to my uncle, we get about five or six hours at home each week, just enough time to post an update and work on the petition.

Petition Update |

|
|
Things have been going at an AMAZING pace; the support thats been given to this petition is nothing short of spectacular. If things keep going like they have been, we're looking at a number between 1,700 and 1,800 signatures at around 8 tonight; interestingly, thats roughly the same number of signatures we got for our very first petition a few years back, the Mother on Game Boy Color Petition. The difference here is that we got that many signatures for the MoGBC Petition in a few months; we've gotten this many in the first 24 hours. Its amazing how much this site has grown in just a few years!
I've added a few things to the petition page concerning multiple signatures, but if you're reading this then you probably (hopefully) already signed it, so no need to post them here. However, I would like to make one thing clear:
YOU DO NOT HELP US BY SIGNING MULTIPLE TIMES
Signing multiple times just degrades the quality and reliability of the petition and causes our staffers to pull their hair out trying to keep track of duplicate IP's and names. Please don't waste our time our yours -- sign only once. If you're obsessed with getting more signatures, then go tell your friends or something. Go to the Mother 3 Petition page if you want to see the rest of the new stuff. Hopefully I'll be posting buttons/banners later on today.
Also, we're keeping a sort of timeline log of big events with the petition; more specifically, we're logging signature milestones (1,000, 10,000, etc) and when it gets posted on other gaming websites and in gaming magazines. Its nice to have a timeline of what happened, and we'd also like to be able to thank all the websites that helped us once its all over. For example, N-Sider posted news about the petition last night just 2 hours after it started (thanks to Glen Bayer for that!), and just a minute ago Thomas over at Gamequbed posted for us. If you notice that a website or magazine posts news about the petition, please come let us know about it on the Starmen.Net Discussion Forum so we'll be able to keep track of goings-on (I've already started a topic for this, so don't post a new topic every time).
Thanks to everyone for their support so far, and keep it going :)

Petition Reminder!! |

|
|
This is just a reminder: If you are caught signing multiple times you WILL be banned! I've already had to ban 2 or 3 people, and the petition has only been open for about 5 or 6 hours.
So in summary, signing multiple times = BAD. And BAN.

MOTHER 3 PETITION KICKOFF |

|
|
It begins now, folks! The Mother 3 Petition is up and accepting signatures! To kick off this event, I'd like to first thank Xodnizel for his programming work and Tomato for his scripting (he made that awesome sig counter up there) and his assistance in preparing to release everything.
So, now begins the REAL work: spreading the word about the petition. You can read about how to help out on the petition page, but to summarize, here it is: We need EVERYONE to tell as many people about this as they can. Here is the catch: we do NOT want to make it look like we're trying to advertise Starmen.Net. We don't WANT more traffic, we have enough problems with bandwidth as it is. What we DO want, however, is as many signatures for the Mother 3 petition as we can possibly get. So, if and when you decide to help spread the word on other websites, please read the information on the petition page first and don't make it look like you're advertising Starmen.Net, make it look like you're advertising a Mother 3 petition.
Let the games begin! :)

Okay, this is just a reeaal quick update before reid gets the petition up. I added a few more screenshots to the Fan Shots section. That's it for today, I might update Fan Melee tomorrow morning. I'm putting it off so I won't bump reid's petition update. ;D
EDIT: And there's a new version of Heero0m's secrets guide in the Strategy section.
