There's just so much to say. First and foremost: Brand new Fanfics. Bit of a slow week, but we've got good stuff from Ninten1 hooked up. And if you haven't been keeping track of Zenith, now is a great time to start. Don't forget to patronize the new staffers. And I mean "patronize" as in "do what they tell you." Last week in the forums, I started up a little Rock Paper Scissors challenge... the results are available here. It's really quite interesting and entertaining, all at once. The Leafs lost, and Dali`s Clock wears a kilt. All this plus a brand new Latest Excuse, co-starring Falcon24. I want to reach out, and touch the flame... where the streets have no name. (I just felt like this update was long enough to warrant some U2. Undoubtedly, Supper Budha will probably descend on me to berate me for my high crazyness levels tonight. Don't worry, it's just a seasonal thing.) |

Hello! I'm KindarSpirit (formerly SchalaNu on the forums) and it appears I'm the last new person to introduce myself, but better late than never. ^_^ I will be dedicating my time and efforts to maintaining the Mother 2 section, keeping it fresh and hopefully expanding the section with some ideas I have been working on. With the Funktastic Game Play 2002 rumored to be in the horizon and the petition in action, I will be doing my absolute best to keep the section running smoothly to keep up with all the exciting things going on at sm.net. Anyhoo, down to business: I've finally got around to yet another Fan Melee update. If I recall correctly, there is a badge still due from the previous round.  In an effort to ha... say hi to the new staffers, I'm kicking their posts down. FlatFace and Cyan sent me the first entry for a fangame in a long time. Based on the once-popular BBS game, Legend of the Red Dragon has gone EarthBound style. This game involves many people who go to starmen.net, and is growing by the day with 89 players and counting. To get an account, contact FlatFace or Cyan. They can be reached on IRC (irc.dynastynet.net #starmen or #lord) too. This game is free of charge, and can be played without downloading anything. Hello. For those of you who do not know me, I am EBFan2000. I am the new article section maintainer for sm.net. I hope to revive the article section to its former self. I have some great ideas which I hope to impliment to the section, so look out for them in the future. I also have some plans for some new series of articles which I think will be very interesting. It's been so long since I did actual, real work on the site. Such a strange feeling. I'll let the three new staffers introduce themselves. Luckily they've responded, but I wish things had gone more smoothly than that. I did a bunch of maintainence around the site. Fixed a bunch of links on section sidebars, set up newsletter stuff (but you can't subscribe yet, that'll come soon), did a bunch of stuff for the incoming staffers, and one more thing... I had planned this about 15 months ago, when I created the current site design, but I never got around to implementing it, because we soon found ourself on two servers, which made things impossible. But now that we're on one server again, I'm proud to show off some 1337 PHP cooking skills with Custom Starmen.Net. It's pretty bare right now, but I get the feeling we'll add stuff soon. So check that out sometime. Oh yeah, just to remind everybody, the manga translation section is closed. I get questions every once in a while about why I don't update it, so I finally went and changed the translation page to mention that it's closed. The petition is crawling slowly, so very slowly. We need some petition power. And NO, e-mailing Nintendo and spamming GameFaqs is NOT what we want. Thanks to all the knuckleheads who can't read, starmen.net is now a banned word there (which is a real inconvenience when you're trying to use it in a legitimate post). And why would you e-mail Nintendo about a petition we're sending to Nintendo? It just doesn't make sense. We already got on IGN, don't bother them anymore, please. I get the feeling the next phase of the petition will have to be handwritten signatures, but reid still needs to work that out. Come on reido! BTW, I found something cool, check it out: Our first newsletter ever! Ah, times were so cool back then. I hope our new newsletter person can bring such coolness to the new newsletter. Remember that SM.Net Online EB Walkthrough we were working on? Well we finally got all the writing done for it, thanks to guruzeth/zeth/whatever he goes by now (help, I don't know) and Falcon24. The next step is to get all the pics that accompany that text, which Wampa should hopefully be doing. Then it'll be time to start putting all the stuff together, probably with a custom program I'll write. About a year and a half ago, I wrote a small sample of what the SMOEBW will look like, check it out here! EDIT: Forgot about this. I'm thinking of having another Funktastic Game Play event this summer. If you're interested and/or have ideas, let me know here! I got off my lazy butt and actually bought parts for a new computer that I'll build. I would like to thank Memorial Day sales for this.
