Polls Updated and the PRIZE Thing |

|
|
The polls are updated. Here are the results from last week:
If you could only have one other member be alive, who would it be?
Paula: 48.35%
Poo: 32.64%
Jeff: 19.01%
Total Votes: 242
It looked like Poo was going to win at first, but Paula took the massive lead. I personally chose Poo because he knows lifeup and stuff.
SO! You all still want that sticker don't you? Well here's a more straightforward question. And this is for all non-staff people and non forum mods/admins. OK! So here's the question:
Who wants that magic man?
[EDIT]OK! That's it! Someone won already. Concrapulations to Rioting Nerd! For those of you who don't know, the answer is Mars. If you don't know what a Mars is, you should be a happy man/wo-man.

A sure-fire way to identify if I screwed up in writing a Trivia question is to count how many people won in a given week. Only SimonBob won this week. Do the math.

-{F}- SLACKers Productions Presents... |

|
|
Well, actually, no they don't. Now, if the four guys who worked on the movie with me last weekend were here, then they would, but they aren't, so they don't. Anyway! Fanfics! Now, for those of you keeping track, I got the new BNL album recently, and I'm starting to like it because I'm learning the words to the songs. If there's one thing I hate, it's not knowing the words... oh, that and not getting new Fanfics.

Aw, those were some great Hippie goods. :(
Anyway, check out some other great goods. Oh, and you might notice the little garbage can next to some auctions. Those auctions are not worth what they are asking for what they are offering. Remember, always look for the best deal and be careful when bidding. And ALWAYS read the auction description!
Auctions mmmk?
Safe bidding.

That's how long I've been running the Links section. I've really been slacking, so it's about time I step down anyway. I probably won't leave the fangames/fanart section because it pratically updates itself (READ: Send me games!), and I like the benefits it gives me (READ: Newspro access, #smnet access (which I never go in :/)).
You know, this job has really taught me a lot. When I first started, I was just some guy from the PK Hack scene (BA, Flyn: Hi!). When I first got in, there was a simple PHP includes script that had all the sites in alphabetical order. (Ex: As were in a.php, Bs were in b.php) By the time I left, everything was in a SQL database, with the script basically doing the job for me.
It takes a lot more skills to run Links than you'd think. You have to find some way to keep all of those links in some organized fashion so you can change things later, as well as add new links. You have to have some Photoshop skills to make the leftbar pic. And lastly, my biggest flaw, is be very decisive when it comes to choosing a spotlight site.
Don't worry, I'm not leaving or anything. I still have fangames/apps to run, and I still will be involved with the site reconstruction or whatever we're called it this week. I'm just stepping down for the good of the site. I hope that this job will change the life of my successor has it had to mine.
(And for those of you worried about the section, I pretty much de-obfuscated everything so it's back to a simple page again. I deleted all of my crazy scripts.)

Sm.Net Store, Redesign |

|
|
Well folks, the reign of the 2nd edition Starmen.Net hoodie has ended. I feel obligated to mention that we sold 37 of these beasts through the Starmen.Net Swag store, the second largest number of items ever sold, followed by the Urfbownd Zero Baseball T (30 sold) and preceded by none other than the first edition hoodie, of which we sold 49. You can find out some more information on these pieces of merchandise later when Shadow archives them in the Merchandise section.
Additionally, due to some worries we've had about copyright stuff, we've pulled the journals/hippie stuff. So for the handful of you who purchased any of the hippie journals or posters, you now own some extremely rare merchandise :)
Speaking of merchandise, thanks to the ridiculous amount of work which Jonk has been pouring into the Swag store, Cafepress just cut us a check for nearly $200, by far the largest sum we've ever earned in a month (we've earned a total of $875 since 7/19/2001). In the past month, you guys not only got a bunch of cool stuff to remember the site by, but you paid for the equivalent of an entire month's server bill and a two-year renewal of Starmen.Net's domain name. On behalf of the site, I can't thank you guys enough for supporting us in such an awesome way.
In completely unrelated news, lots of awesome things are happening wit h the redesign of the site :D A few days ago I made some pretty huge progress with the graphics/layout, and accordingly began recruiting the help of the ubiquitous shadow (of OCRemix EB music fame) to help with the CSS/html business. Themadcreator and Tokage are both working hard on the php back-end stuff, and Xod just did an awesome job of setting up a new forum for us (which we'll probably be switching to prior to the release of the new design). And, no, I'm not even going to estimate when the design will be done, so don't ask :B

Continuum! |

|
|
Hey there, folks. I'm posting a delightful message from your local Sm.Net forumgoer and all-around awesome guy, Atticus. Here goes: --- Do you play Continuum? Do you like Star Wars? Do you like VIDEOGAMES? Better yet, do you like FREE online videogames that the majority of the starmen.net community plays yearly? Do you want to meet more people at the site, or make your mark on the Starmen.net community? Or does the idea of pwning reid in a bomber duel at next year's tourney float your boat? If any of this peaks your interest go download Continuum, and join the official Starmen.net DSB squad "The Chosen Ones." Now what痴 this game about and what is a squad? Well to put it simply, Continuum is multiplayer asteroids, but instead of shooting little rocks, you fight other players in arenas with set goals and rules varying over each zone. A squad is a group of organized players who compete in League Matches with other squads on a regular basis. Our Squad plays on the Star Wars themed Death Star Battle Zone and competes in it痴 weekend league matches. If you are interested in joining us at the beginning of this years league or even just learning the game itself send me a PM on the forum or drop by #subspace on IRC Dynastynet and talk to myself (Atticus) or a trustee (Endor, Golbez, Luna). For additional information regarding the yearly tourneys and getting started check out this FAQ. See you in the star! --- So, there you go. To add to what atty said, I'll just briefly say that we always love having more players, especially for our squad, so join up as fast as possible and join us on IRC and in-game. So HEED THE CALL OF CONTINUUM *spooky noises*
Oh, and go to this topic for Continuum discussion.
On that note, mailbag will be updated later in the week. Huzzah.

Funfestion Update |

|
|
Hey, it's Skulryk here again, bringing you another funfest update.
First off, our thoughts and prayers go to Colin- and his friends, hoping that they can get through this stressful time they're going through. Good luck to you.
Secondly, we hope that you can expect a lot more consistency in the funfest updates from now on (provided we get material.) Hopefully there won't be any more week-long breaks between updates.
And, that being said, on with the entries!
That's all we have for today's entries. Please send us more here! We really want to see some more awesome entries, but also remind you to take your time and make sure you put quality before quantity; we really want them to be truely awesome.

Sorry... |

|
|
Sorry, for the second week in a row, the EarthBound/Mother2 section will not be updated.
This is slighty due to the small amount of submissions (which is fine considering the Halloween Funest is in full swing.) But a lot of my lack of being here lately is because these last two weeks have been the most stressfull weeks in my entire life. Two of my friends were in a drunk driving accident, one is severly injured, the other is possibley paralyzed might not even live. Another one of my friends crashed, but is okay, in a seperate accident. And not less than one hour ago, a man died right in front of me on the Trolley on the way back from the Pittsbrugh Penguins game. I have no clue who this guy was, but he died right in front of me and two friends, there was nothing we could do.
I hate to make excuses for myself, but I will really try hard to update next week, because hopefully my life will return to normal soon. In the meantime, please pray that my friends make it out okay and live, and pray for the family of the man who died in front of me on the Trolley.
That is all. God bless all of you, and I hope to see you next week.
