| Well, AoE is finally updated. I posted the final entry, and the winner for best major entry. The new minor and major prediction topics are up, too! Don't you just love me? EBchick and SimonBob sure do! Well, actually I think they are just using me to get their names in the title of a news post. But I'm ok with that. No, you haven't died, the site is back! Granted, it was restored from a Thanksgving backup tape (props to C.net for backing up before they disconnected their server...) so we lost a bit of stuff. Stop whining you little IF'ers! Anyway the staffers are all gonna update a lot now cause they've been too lazy. There's a few big things coming up for SM.net so don't go away! | I'll get straight to the point here. A part in my computer got recalled(namely, the Motherboard) and I have to send it back to the company to have the part replaced. So, I'm gonna be gone until next Tuesday at the very least/most(? I dunno.) I understand that I haven't updated articles yet, and I do have a good 6-7 submissions to put up, so don't think it got lost in the mail or I'm slacking off. School's been keeping me from getting stuff done, oh well. But, just because I'm going to be gone doesn't mean you should not send articles! Send me lots and lots and lots(gimme gimme gimme) so when I come back I can make a super-ultra-mambo-tango-foxtrot update. Ok peeps I got a lot to talk about so I'll get right down to it. First of all, you're all probably wondering what happened to the funfest. Due to some (a lot) of confusion, all of the entries that aren't on the entries page were lost. So if you submitted something that's not on that page, we don't have it. Because I'm benevolent, (translation: reidman told me to) I'm reopening submissions until 5pm Central on Tuesday. Click here to go submit. Don't worry if you didn't meet the last deadline, it's not like I have any way of checking anyway. So go submit your funfest entries, and judging will begin as soon as Simpsons ends on Tuesday. Next up is the mailbag. Sorry for missing it last week, but blah blah blah. There's some good stuff in there this week, but I think I'm gonna start picking some letters with some actual content in them. That means we may have seen the last of Miss NeoPaula in that section. Anyway, go over there and read it, then send me a letter about this weeks topic, or anything else that may be festering in that little brain of yours. Next up is something very serious: starmen.net's hatred of .bmp's. We hate them. You probably hate them. I know I do. Since they're annoying, too big, and generally suck, they will no longer be accepted on starmen.net. Submit stuff in .gif format! Maybe .jpg. But NOT .bmp. Don't know how to convert a file to a .gif? Well click right here for a short and sweet guide all about .gif's. Hyper sexy props to NeoPaula (she just doesn't go away!) for finding the awsuma convertor program. Lastly comes something from Jonk. For those of you who don't know, Jonk is probably one of the best artists to ever grace our community. Bringing us fine works in the past such as EarthBound Planet one and two, he returns to us after a long absence. From what he tells me, he's built up quite a portfolio of EarthBound landscapes. He's armed with so many drawings that hel'' have his own section here on the site. For a sneak peak, click here to see the first in the series, The Cavern of Ages. Finally, reidman recently had back surgery and is now recovering. It'll be only a few days before he's carrying pigs and tractors around once more, let's be thankful for that. Remember: reidman's family grows your food. *Phew* That was tiring. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go play Shenmue. I have taken the Apple of Enlightenment entries I have recieved and placed them in the lockbox, where all entries will go. Please excuse me, I've been quoting SNL all week. But as I was saying, I've gotten three minor predictions and I have posted them in the entries section of AoE. The rest of the minor predictions will be due by noon, next Saturday, so get them ready! I bet no one saw this coming. Say 'hi' to your new full-fleged staffer! It's your local newsletter guy, posting for the first time to tell you what's going down in the newsletter department, which is the fact that few ARE getting the newsletter. For this reason a new system has been worked out. It goes something like this: 1) I make newsletter 2) newsletter is posted on the site This way, even if your not on the mailing list you can still get the newsletter. How convenient! The other reason I'm posting is cause I really want to see more submissions to the newsletter. A spiffy FTP account has been set up, so those real cool submissions like text art and actual jpegs and stuff can actually be a ready part of the newsletter. This gives everyone good opportunities to get your works recognized no matter what you submit. ...Mmmkay. This post is getting way too long. Remember! Submissions are good and tasty! |

| Yes, it's finally arrived. This has been one of the biggest kept secrets in the history of our community (much like last year's AoE.) The Apple of Enlightenment is actually a new section on the site, and if I'm correct (which I always am,) it should be pretty big. Hi, Tomato here. I just went to western Japan, to places like Kyoto and Hiroshima. While I was in Kyoto, I decided I might go check out Nintendo's headquarters. Even though I knew I didn't have an appointment or anything, I went there. NOJ is in THE crummiest section of town (I still can't believe how bad it is), the buildings are old and ugly, and right next door are a bunch of tiny businesses that look like they won't last too long. Anyway, I went up and talked to the parking lot guard guy to see if maybe there were tours or something, and he snapped back at me rudely. He was so rude, it's now my life goal to get him fired. The moral of the story is that NOJ is a pretty crummy place. If you ever go to Kyoto, don't go there. The place is ugly and the guards are rude. Bye for now. |

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm progressing pretty well on the article section, and it'll be up sooner or later. Of course it's going to be a while, because I have to deal with 300+ articles... :/ In other news, I'd like to announce that due to popular demand, starmen.net will be hosting an EarthBound trivia tournament pretty soon.
