When I first started doing updated sites in June of 1999, it was only a temporary job on eb.net, I was filling in for Kyosuke while he was in Japan. It became a permanant thing, and it led me to bigger things on the site, namely being the webmaster :). I've had a few memories of it, from Ourumov updating his site, EB Universe (I think) almost EVERY day (Hey Ourumov send an email my way) to Cory h4x0ring my comp and updating his site (4 A's in the url!) at the same time. It's been fun, but its time to move on. As many of you know, I have not been too faithful to my little Updated Sites section, I'm sorry for that. I've realized that it's become a bother when it comes to bigger things, and it's time for me to pass it on. No, sit down Frank and Saturnman, I've already picked someone new. Hey, it's me, Tomato! *applause* Well, I finally got version 2.5 of my EB Text Editor finished, get it here. I'm too lazy to update the PK Hack page, though. Oh, the next month and a half really determines probably what direction the rest of my life will go, so I don't have much time to do stuff with PK Hack, the text editor, SM.Net, etc. for a while. So, I'm taking a break for 2 or 3 months or so. Don't think I'm leaving, cuz I ain't! This is my site and I ain't dumping it. I will pop up in the forums on occasion, but because of my schedule I'm pretty much limited to about 15 minutes a day to get online. So don't expect too much from me for a while. Oh, people, make some good EB hacks for the funfest or I will have Igor the crazy Mr. Saturn go after you. "Edit: Oops, whenever the new Zelda game comes out, remember this. Hi. I'm in the process of giving the articles section a major overhaul, and I found some articles that Xod forgot when he put up the archive page. Anyway I hope to do a little bit each night and eventually have the entire section back super spiffy. When it finally is I'll announce it so you can start sending in articles again. Oh yeah, I think this needs to be addressed. I AM NOT THE FLUKES GUY ANYMORE. I think a lot of people don't understand that yet. #1 I seem to recall that before I stopped doing flukes I said to send them to the submit page, NOT to me. #2 Don't send them to me or the submit page anyway, send them to Jeb2. Anyway, I went around the site and fixed up a bunch of stuff, namely those funky image maps at the top of the game pages (see it up there? it says eb, eb zero, eb64, forums, and contests?) Yeah I fixed those on all the game pages and made some necesary pages to accomodate them. There's still some work to be done, namely the beautifying of the Super Smash Brothers section, which I promise we'll do something with...someday. Hey all! Did a LOT of work today, unfortunately most of it was for school :(. However, I did get a good couple hours of stuff done around here too! It all starts with the mailbag! Umi answered with me, so head over there, check it out, and submit your letters for next week! Next comes some news from #earthbound. Some stuff was happening this afternoon in there which I really didn't like, so I delivered a little speech. You can read it here. I encourage you to do so, and it's not that long. It details exactly what #earthbound should be, and frankly it's not that tough to do so. After I gave the speech everyone was happy, and I think we were all a bit excited. So read that thing and just have fun in there. Next comes the funfest. Though we don't have a real page up for it, we will very soon (/me glares at Jeb2.) So get cracking on your entries, they're due on Halloween. Details will be posted shortly. Finally, something I want to talk to you guys about is articles. They are what really got the site off the ground, but unfortunately they kinda died. All of us here at starmen.net love EarthBound articles, heck most of us staffers have written some. Take reidman's, Tomato's, and even mine. These are just a few of the countless insane ramblings, and yet people LOVED them. Hi, I updated flukes again. Check them out right here. Aside from that, I have a few things to go over for when you submit your flukes. 1. When submitting, put them in the name/number system that has been around forever. DO NOT name them "happyhappyist.gif" "nessintrouble.gif" and so on. Instead, if say, your name was Bobby, name them "bobby1.gif" "bobby2.gif" and so on. 2. Also when submitting flukes, do not attach them individually(ESPECIALLY if they are bitmaps). Please compress them. Also, by compression I mean winzip compression(a .zip file). NO PKzip, no ACE compression, etc. This is because a. I only have winzip, and b. because if you attach each fluke individually, it becomes too much for my modem and it crashes(and then dios has to retrieve the flukes from my mailbox and I guess it's annoying to do that when you're dreaming about clown girls and spaceships) Ok that's all, bye bye. |
