But finally, a staffer decision has been made. After chatting with reidman this morning, I have been given a name. It had already been revealed that the staffer was a girl ... but the name of the staffer is: Chewy_Kimono. I don't personally know her, but from who does already knowm they're excited to have her on staff. Carpainter: Welcome Saotome_Ranma into the office! Hey, Sao. I'm interviewing you this "week". Saotome_Ranma: hi Carp, glad to be here. Carpainter: Or are you? Carpainter: Well, to begin, Saotome_Ranma is an op in #eb. Saotome_Ranma: yes indeed. Carpainter: Recently, Mansion_Maniac wrote an article announcing that #eb was falling apart. While this was true, Zeth realized the same. He added Mansion, Pikachan and Dali's Clock to the staff. How have these three affected #eb's turnaround? Saotome_Ranma: I'd say they've certainly helped keep the channel in line. With the loss of ops like bloop, and the idlage of numerous other ops, we certainly needed more people to lay down the law. Saotome_Ranma: I think they've helped the channel a lot, pikachan in particular Carpainter: Pikar is awesome. Carpainter: Personally, I'm glad all three were promoted. They certainly deserved it. Carpainter: What do you think was contributed to the downfall the most? Saotome_Ranma: people disregarding the rules completely. To be blunt, people like Cherrybomb and DXTandp, although they're wonderful people, they need to follow the channel's rules. If we have people saying crap like "ddrsu" "x", the channel's going to fall again. Carpainter: Very true. Carpainter: I understand certain people's beliefs on religion, but I don't enjoy the constant bashing in there. Carpainter: It really gets annoying, and something should be done. Saotome_Ranma: yes, I don't think people should be allowed to bash things all day and get away with it. Carpainter: Now my next question: Carpainter: Why aren't these people just removed entirely? Saotome_Ranma: well, from my knowledge, I won't hear the end of it. If I ban one person, let's take DXT as an example, a good percentage of the chatters will gripe at me, yelling at the ops for being 'nazis'. People will storm the channel with FREE_DXT nicks, and secret underground hate groups will form. I know it sounds a bit extreme, but it's happened before, numerous times. So, until we can find a decent solution for this, temporary bans and simple kicks are all we have. Carpainter: I haven't seen many temporary bans or kicks at all in the last little while. Saotome_Ranma: we've been trying our best. Another problem is exactly where to draw the line when kicking, there are things I'd kick for, but haven't, just because I'm sick of people griping about it. Carpainter: Could you give an example of griping? Saotome_Ranma: sure, this is going to be by memory, so it may not be exact... Saotome_Ranma: Chat got a bit out of hand last night, so Dali's Clock muted for a while, to cool things down. All the while it's muted, Cherrybomb decides to notice me, and numerous other ops, it seems, demanding to be voiced. Because she's not breaking any of the channel's rules directly, I feel as if there's not much I can do about this, but I kick her eventually, and then get called . Carpainter: I see. That does put you in a rough spot. Saotome_Ranma: indeed. Carpainter: Well, I personally would like to see some sort of plan go into play so that you ops can actually do your job. Carpainter: I also thank you for your time. Saotome_Ranma: ah, I was glad to do it. Carpainter: LET'S GO PLAY CONTINUUM. Carpainter: For Saotome_Ranma, and myself. They are so cool and they play jazz. :D MANSION_MANIAC (Last minute replacement for Everdraed/ROBJPUB ;D) Uh...probably Jeff, cause I look like him the most. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ CARPAINTER'S RANT - \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I had a large bump on my head. Some thought it could be cancerous, some thought it was a tumour. Sadly, neither were correct, and it's a cyst. Why do I say sadly? Because the pain the "operation" or "surgery" afterwards is not worth it. Sure, I might be slightly exaggerating, but hey. Anyway, this was my first time getting stitches, and hopefully my last. (I'm rushing the rant while I do the interview, because I want to be the first one to say who the new staffer is! I'm as excited as anyone!) This Tuesday is wonderful for a couple of reasons. 1.) First Basketball game. 2.) Getting stitches out. It's also sucky, for a few more reasons. 1.) Second day of school. 2.) Exams all day. 3.) Stitches removed could hurt. 4.) Portfolios due, yet to start. Oh, kill me now. As sweet as Basketball is, I just don't think it's worth it. I may be leading the team, and will one of the better players ... Wow, that's awesome. Started playing A Link to the Past, and I'm at the Skull Dungeon. I can't wait to beat this game again. I love it. Well, apologies for the small rant, but I'm against the clock! --Schlater Days!
