Dear Reid:

Thanks for contacting us. It is my pleasure to assist you.

In your recent letter, you let us, here at Nintendo, know that you have initiated a letter-writing campaign to get

EarthBound made in a Game Boy version. I can appreciate your reasons for wanting this game made for your

favorite game playing medium, the Game Boy Color.

Even though it may seem like it to you, your petition was not ignored. I received your package with all those names

and the wonderful, in-depth outline, stating your case. I want to assure you that I forwarded the package to the

appropriate department for review.

As you are well aware of, making any game involves a large investment of money and resources. This holds true

for translating a game from system to system. There are, actually, many role playing games (RPGs) for the Game

Boy, and as I said before, I can appreciate your reasons for wanting this game to be added to that medium. Only

time will tell if this game will appear in the Game Boy line up.

I know that you are likely to be aware that there will be an EarthBound for the Nintendo 64 (N64). We don't have

a release date, yet, but when one is announced, you'll be able to find it on our website. Here's one of those

shameless game plugs...

The most crazy, onginal and outrageous RPG ever, makes the jump to Nintendo 64. Our sassy band of heroes

reunites once again to save the Earth from cosmic peril. Expect the same outstanding mix of classical fantasy

elements, pop-culture and modern-day life issues, and irreverent humor. When faced with an unlikely foe called

Clumsy Robot, you realize that victory will demand building up your mighty Starstorm Spell to the highest level, or,

then again, you could just whack him with your trusty frying pan. Gigantic interactive areas have been created and

populated with an amazing array of diverse speaking characters, leaving players free to follow the path of their

choosing. More extensive and interactive scripts have been created for each character allowing more realistic and

varied dialogues. EarthBound 64 is gigantic, whimsical, addicting and a must have for RPG fans everywhere.

EarthBound 64 is presently scheduled to he the first game for the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive. Although we don't have

a lot of detailed information on this game, we have seen some awesome screen shots that only serve to whet our

appetites for this unusual epic title.

Also, because of the letterhead on your letter and on many ofthose petitioning Nintendo about the EarthBound

game, I feel that I should fill you in on the guidelines regarding use of our copyrighted and trademarked characters,

articles, etc. I'm sure you'll want to read this information carefully:

Sincerely,

NINTENDO OF AMERICA INC.
