The Petition enjoyed a very interesting year-long run, during which it was featured on pretty much all of the biggest gaming sites on the internet. Here is a timeline of all of those which we were notified about; who knows how many more there actually were?

Starmen.net Petition March 24, 2002 by Thomas
The dedicated video game folk at Starmen.net are once again asking everyone who wants to see the fantastic sequel to the Earthbound series (Mother in Japan) to sign a petition. The game, Earthbound 64, was a very anticipated game, but after 4 years of production, was canned by Nintendo. Petition signing takes seconds, and you can sign it here!.Note to self: The guys at PlanetGamecube's forum are jerks :|

And finally, Tomato wanted me to mention a petition to get Mother 3 (Earthbound 2) released. The game was cancelled after four years of developement, which disappointed a LOT of people. Supposedly, there has been word that Mother 3 is being worked on again, and there is hope that 30,000 people saying that they'd buy the game might make Nintendo stop second-guessing itself. So, I figured I'd mention this since Mother is such a unique and cool series and Tomato is such a cool person. If you're interested in signing the petition, it's here.

To end this long, gigantic rant/post/update, I will be abusing my powers to plug a huge petition for Mother (EarthBound) 3. I'm webmaster of that site, and it's already going much better than expected. 1800 in a little over 24 hours. But we can use as much help as we can get. So if you're interested in good RPGs (which you should be if you're here!) check that out! Um... I hope Dark Force doesn't mind me doing this ;)At 5:59 AM EST, SLing turned the 1850th sig. It took us 2 or 3 months to get this many signatures when we did the Mother on Game Boy Color Petition; it took us only 34 hours for this petition!

Earthbound petition Site News
For any fans of the game EarthBound, Starmen.net is holding a petition to get the latest game in the series (a game originally for the N64 which never came to be) under development for the Gamecube. They're looking for 30,000 signatures, and I think we can be the ones to give it to them :D If everyone who visits this site goes as soon as they read this, there will be way more than 30,000 in under 2 days. Even if you aren't a huge fan of the series, help these guys' dream come true. They're obsessed with EB.

Starmen.net tries their hand again at an Earthbound sequal... Will it work this time? Earthbound was a cult classic RPG from Nintendo on their SNES game system. The game is known as Mother in Japan and started on the NES. The first Mother game was supposed to come to the States but Nintendo pulled out at the last minute.
When Mother 2 on the SNES was brought over to the U.S. as Earthbound, the game garnered praise for its quirky graphics, great story, and memorable characters. As many gamers remember, there was a little hint at Earthbound 2 inside of Earthbound stating that work on its sequel had already begun. What we didn't know is that it would take the game four years to even get any where, and once again, near the games completion, Nintendo pulled the game out, pointing to the Gamecube’s nearing launch for the reason. This brings out many theories that there is an Earthbound game in development for the Gamecube.
While no official announcement has ever been made on a new Earthbound game, fans have been begging for it for the entire life span of the N64 and the year the Gamecube has been launched. In response to Nintendo’s silence, the faithful gamers over at Starmen.net have once again taken up the torch in hopes that we may see a new Earthbound game.
While the last two petitions for the game seem to have failed, SM.net hopes that this new, and eventually larger petition, will catch Nintendo’s eye and spark some interest again in the game. So... Are you a fan of Earthbound? Well get your butt on over to Starmen.net and take up your part in the whole ordeal! Maybe this will bring the beloved game to our hands once again. Check out AllRPG's review of Earthbound here.Posted on Planet Nintendo:

EarthBound Petition: Starman Dot Net needs help building the thirty thousand signatures they need to make a statement to Nintendo. Who knows if the Gods will hear their plaintive cries, but I guess it can't hurt to wave your arms around and say "Notice me, Notice Me." I like to be contrary to things like this, as my rational mind does not consider this brand of Gamer Activism particularly efficacious, but I just have a soft spot for them.
Note to Tycho: Starman Dot Net? You can expect....ninjas.

On a side note, I had promised to mention the Mother 3 petition currently being run at the Earthbound fan website, starmen.net. Though I am not personally a big fan of newer 3d-based consoles / games, I approve of the efforts these folks are trying to make in order to promote and strengthen a project they truly believe in. I therefore invite folks to visit this location, check out the petition, and briefly sign it if they agree with its purpose. Don't sign gibberish, and don't sign because you're bored. Its videogaming, sure - but its a real cause and its going to be seen by real people in the end. There's little room for tomfoolery. Be serious and show your support. I'm off my soapbox now. The Mother 3 petition is awaiting you. Run, my friends. Run like the wind.

For those who don't know, the "Mother" RPGs are very unique games in Japan. Only one, "Mother 2" was released officially in North America by the name of "Earthbound". It was a breakaway from the typical swords and dragons style of RPG, and was even full of comedic one-liners and religious cults. "Mother 3" (for the Nintendo 64) was very much so near completion and showed the same level of polish and detail as "The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time". Unfortunately, for one reason or another "Mother 3" was cancelled about 90% into production. Join Happy-Happyism today! Sign the "Mother 3" petition and bring another classic RPG to the Nintendo Gamecube!
