Ghost Town

Part Four: Jeff's Story

Jeff had left Winters early
For time to get there, he was pressed
His costume, though, was surely ready
As Albert Einstein, he was dressed

Jeff wore a wig of snowy white
And contact lenses, in glasses' place
A sign read, E equals M C squared
And a smile was upon his face

He crossed Lake Tess on Tessie's back
With the Bubble Monkey's aid
For this deed, he promised that
The monkey, with candy would be paid

He crept through the Pond Cave
To the lab, a trip he had to make
Jeff planned to fly to Twoson
So the Sky Runner, he had to take

Near the bus station, he did crash-land
The Sky Runner was blown to bits
Jeff climbed out and started to walk
Surviving with courage and with wits

An owl called, and Jeff looked up
He saw a couple of bats soar by
And as he continued to watch them
He saw the moon hanging in the sky

The cold wind did give Jeff a chill
As he, feeling frightened, plodded on
But when he got to Burglin Park
It became clear that something was wrong

No friends were there, how scared was Jeff
When in a circle, he did see
No people, but some patient shadows
Clumped together, numbering three
