Super Smash Brothers! It's the game that kept you busy while forever waiting for a Mother sequel. Released on the N64 on March 31st of 1999, the game introduced many a fan to Earthbound and brought us tons of new visitors to contribute to the community. For some reason or another, Nintendo included Ness in this game and here we are. That's its only real relation to Earthbound, but it was good enough to be put up here.
It was a fighting game. Not your average fighting game though... It includes Nintendo characters from a wide variety of games. What does that spell? AWESOME. (Really!) From Samus Aran to Jigglypuff, you could duke it out with an assortment of characters. You battled you way to the top, gaining secret characters along the way and totally clobbering your friends and crying victory.
But what about Ness, our Earthbound hero. Ness turned out to be one of the best characters in the game (who would've guessed?) Featuring well rounded moves, such as PK Thunder, a returning classic, a smashing bat attack, yo-yo attacks and his unique jump, Ness turned out to be a very formidable foe to his opponents. Ness wasn't readily accessibly, though, but by beating single player mode on normal with only three stock and without dying (darn, just gave it all away,) you could access him.
What really made the game a blast was its multiplayer capabilities. Featuring battles of up to four players, you and your friends could vent all your burning rage together in a battle of the best. Even our webmasters, Tomato and reidman have battled each other furiously to the KO! The multiplayer action is fun for the family and even the pet goldfish.
